Four in a Row: how to play
The classic drop-the-disc strategy game. Mogi takes on a different opponent in every level, each a little sharper than the last. Get four in a line before they do.
How to play
- Click or tap a column to drop a disc. Keys: ←/→ and Enter, or the number keys.
- Four of your discs in a line (across, up or diagonally) wins.
- Beat the level's opponent to move on. Lose and it costs a heart and you get a rematch. A draw replays.
- Blocking a move that would have won for them is a close call and scores bonus points.
The five levels
- Neon City: vs Bruno, who is a bit careless
- Rooftops: vs Kip, who blocks every three
- Sewer: vs Sewer Bot, with grey stones on the board
- Robot Factory: vs Factory Bot: make two threats at once
- Glitch Zone: vs Glitch Bot on a board one column wider
Clear the Glitch Zone and the zones loop again against opponents as sharp as Glitch Bot, with grey stones every game. You have three hearts for the whole run, and the game is
the same for everyone each day, so you can compare scores. Press M to turn the sound off or on.
Tips
- Take the middle column early: it is part of the most lines.
- Set up two threats at once. The other player can only block one.
- Watch the row a threat sits on: late in the game, whose turn it is decides who is forced to give way.
Questions
Can I play against the computer?
Yes. Five computer opponents, one per level, each tougher than the last.
Is it free?
Yes. Free in your browser on any device.
What happens in a draw?
The game replays with no heart lost.
How do I beat the Glitch Bot?
Take the centre, build threats that share discs, and aim for two ways to win at once. The wider board gives you more room to set it up.
