Pyramid Solitaire: how to play
Pyramid Solitaire, the classic adding game, hosted by Mogi. Twenty-eight cards make a pyramid of seven rows, and you clear it by pairing uncovered cards that add up to 13. Every deal is checked by a solver first, so there is always a way to win, and the deck gives you fewer trips through it as you climb the levels.
How to play
- Pair two uncovered cards that add up to 13: ace 1, number cards their number, jack 11, queen 12. Kings are 13, so they go on their own.
- A pyramid card is uncovered when both cards resting on it are gone. The bottom row starts uncovered.
- Tap the deck (or press TURN A CARD, D or ↓) to turn a card onto the waste pile. The top waste card can pair too.
- When the deck runs out, the waste turns back over if you have a pass left.
- Tap two cards to pair them, or use ← → and Enter.
- Clear the pyramid to clear the level; leftover deck cards don't matter. If no move is left, you lose one of your three hearts and the same deal starts again.
The five levels
- Neon City: three passes through the deck: learn the pairs
- Rooftops: three passes: pair with the top card beside the deck
- Sewer: only two passes
- Robot Factory: one pass: plan ahead
- Glitch Zone: one pass, and covered cards stay face down
Clear the Glitch Zone and the levels loop again with every covered card face down, as in the Glitch Zone. You have three hearts for the whole run, and the game is
the same for everyone each day, so you can compare scores. Press M to turn the sound off or on.
Tips
- Clear the bottom rows evenly: a card is only free when both cards on it are gone.
- Before pairing two pyramid cards, check whether a deck card could take one of them instead.
- With one pass, count what's left: a 6 is no use if every 7 is buried.
Questions
Is every deal winnable?
Yes. A solver checks each deal with the level's number of passes before you get it.
What is a pass?
One trip through the deck. When it's empty you can turn the waste over and go again while passes are left: 3 at first, then 2, then 1.
Do I have to use up the deck?
No. The level is cleared as soon as the last pyramid card is gone, and every pass left adds to your bonus.
Is it free?
Yes. Pyramid Solitaire is free in your browser on phones, tablets and computers, with no download.
