Halloween Solitaire: how to play

Halloween Solitaire is classic Klondike with a friendly Halloween twist, and every deal is checked to be winnable. Glim the cheerful lantern lights the night table while you send all four suits home on pumpkin-and-moon cards.

How to play

• Play Halloween Solitaire like any Klondike game: build columns down in alternating colours, red on black, black on red.
• Only a king can go in an empty column.
• Tap a card to send it to the best spot, or drag a card or a run yourself.
• Tap the deck to draw one card. Turning the deck over is free.
• If you get stuck, go through the deck twice without progress, or press RESTART, you lose a heart and the same deal starts again.
• Each suit that reaches its candy-corn home pile gets a wave from a little bat, and Glim glows brighter as more cards go home.

The five levels

1. Pumpkin Patch: every card dealt face up, to learn the moves
2. Candy Lane: classic face-down cards
3. Owl Woods: kings and empty columns
4. Moon Hill: watch your hearts
5. Star Castle: still always winnable

Clear Star Castle and the five places loop again with fresh deals, every one still possible to win. You have three hearts for the whole run, and the game is the same for everyone each day, so you can compare scores. Press M to turn the sound off or on.

Tips

• Turn over face-down cards whenever you can: that's where the stuck cards hide.
• Don't empty a column unless you have a king ready for it.
• Send aces and twos home early.
