Pumpkin Carving Game: how to play
Pumpkin Carving is a free online pumpkin carving game for Halloween. Pip the pumpkin asks for a face ("Make it wink!", "A big toothy grin!", "Sleepy eyes!"); you pick the eye, nose and mouth shapes, carve them onto the pumpkin and light the candle to see it glow. Five places, three pumpkins each, and every face is a friendly one.
How to play
- Read Pip's order in the speech bubble. The little checklist under it ticks itself as your face starts to match.
- Tap a shape in the tray, then tap the pumpkin where it should go (or drag the shape straight onto the pumpkin). Eyes come first, then the nose, then the mouth. Drag a carved part to move it.
- With a keyboard, press 1–6 to pick a shape, the arrows to move it and Enter to carve it. Backspace undoes the last cut.
- When the face is done, press LIGHT (or Enter). If the face meets every point of the order, you score; if not, you lose one of your three hearts.
- Each pumpkin has a candle timer. Let it melt down and you lose a heart too, so keep carving, but there is plenty of time for careful work.
- Points per pumpkin: 100 for meeting the order, up to 60 more for a neat face (eyes level and even, nose and mouth in the middle) and up to 40 for time left on the candle, plus a bonus for each place cleared. Three stars per level: clear it, clear it with no hearts lost, and carve neatly (80% or more).
The five levels
- Pumpkin Patch: a round orange pumpkin: pick the shapes Pip asks for, with guide dots to help
- Candy Lane: a tall pumpkin and winks: one closed eye and one open eye
- Owl Woods: a white pumpkin, toothy grins and sleepy eyes
- Moon Hill: a green-striped pumpkin, extra cut-outs (stars, moons, bats, candy) and no guide dots
- Star Castle: a giant pumpkin and orders with three things to get right
Clear Star Castle and the five places come round again: the candle is a quarter shorter, there are no guide dots and every pumpkin scores double. You have three hearts for the whole run, and the game is
the same for everyone each day, so you can compare scores. Press M to turn the sound off or on.
Tips
- Watch the checklist: when every line has a green tick, light the candle.
- On the first levels, place each part on its dotted guide and it snaps neatly into place.
- Carve the first eye, then put the second one at the same height on the other side: a mirrored face scores the most.
- Changed your mind? Undo the last cut or drag a part somewhere else before you light the candle.
