Killer Sudoku: how to play
Killer Sudoku is sudoku with a twist of arithmetic. Dashed cages group the squares, and the small number in each cage's corner is what its squares add up to. Mogi hosts five daily grids, one per level, from a 4×4 warm-up to a 9×9 with no helper numbers at all. Every puzzle has exactly one answer, and logic always gets you there.
How to play
- Fill every row, column and box with each number once: 1–4 on a 4×4 grid, 1–6 on a 6×6 and 1–9 on a 9×9.
- The squares in a cage add up to its small number, and no number repeats inside a cage.
- Tap a square, then a number button, or use the arrow keys and 1–9.
- A wrong number costs one of your three hearts and doesn't stay. There's no clock, but a quick solve earns a bonus.
- Press NOTES (or N, or hold Shift with a number) to pencil in what could go in a square. Notes tidy themselves as you place numbers, and Backspace clears a square's notes.
- Each number scores 10, each finished cage 5 a square, and each solved grid a bonus.
The five levels
- Neon City: a 4×4 grid with a few helper numbers
- Rooftops: 6×6: no number repeats in a cage
- Sewer: 6×6 with fewer helpers: every row adds up to 21
- Robot Factory: 9×9: every row, column and box makes 45
- Glitch Zone: 9×9 with no helper numbers, only cages
Clear the Glitch Zone and the levels loop again with half the helper numbers and bigger cages. You have three hearts for the whole run, and the game is
the same for everyone each day, so you can compare scores. Press M to turn the sound off or on.
Tips
- Start with small and big cages: a 3 in two squares can only be 1 and 2, a 17 only 8 and 9.
- Use the 45 rule: add up the cages inside a row or box, and the difference is the missing square.
- A one-square cage just tells you the number: fill it in first.
