Math Games Online: how to play
Math Sprint is a quick mental math game and a race. Mogi races the glitch bot down a running track, and every right answer sends Mogi dashing towards the finish flag. The bot moves at the speed of the level clock, so get the level's answers before it reaches the flag. Each level adds one new idea, from simple adding to times tables, division, two-step sums and missing numbers.
How to play
- Type the answer with the number buttons under the game, or the number keys on a keyboard. The answer checks itself as soon as every box is filled: no Enter needed.
- Made a slip before the last digit? ⌫ or Backspace deletes a digit, and CLR, Delete or Esc clears the answer.
- Get the level's set of right answers before the glitch bot reaches the flag: 10 in Neon City, 12 in the next three levels and 14 in the Glitch Zone. The bar at the top shows the time left.
- A wrong answer costs one of your three hearts, and the right answer shows for a moment while the clock waits. If the bot reaches the flag first, you lose a heart and the clock starts again; the answers you already got still count.
- Each right answer scores 10 points × the level number × your streak (up to ×10), plus up to 50 bonus points for answering in under 3 seconds. Clearing a level adds 100 × the level number and 5 points for every second left.
- Each level has three stars: clear it, clear it without losing a heart, and beat the target time. The end card shows your accuracy and your average answer time.
The five levels
- Neon City: adding: 10 right answers in 45 seconds
- Rooftops: taking away joins in: watch the sign
- Sewer: times tables, from the 2s up to the 12s
- Robot Factory: dividing, and two-step sums like 7 × 6 − 5: times comes first
- Glitch Zone: missing numbers like ? + 8 = 15, and digits that flicker
Clear the Glitch Zone and the levels loop again with bigger numbers and a clock 15% shorter. You have three hearts for the whole run, and the game is
the same for everyone each day, so you can compare scores. Press M to turn the sound off or on.
Tips
- For take-away sums, count up from the smaller number: 46 − 25 is 25 plus how many?
- In a two-step sum, do the times first, then add or take away.
- For a missing number, turn it around: ? × 6 = 42 is the same as 42 ÷ 6.
Questions
Is Math Sprint good for practising times tables?
Yes. The Sewer level is all about times tables, building from the 2s up to the 12s, and they come back mixed with everything else in the later levels.
Is it only for kids?
No. The first questions are gentle, but the numbers grow inside every level, and the second lap asks bigger sums on a shorter clock. It's a quick mental math workout for anyone.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Tap the big number pad under the game. On a computer, type with the number keys.
Is it free?
Yes. Math Sprint is free in your browser on phones, tablets and computers, with no download and no sign-up.
