Halloween Mini Golf: how to play
Halloween Mini Golf is a free Halloween mini golf game online, hosted by Hops, a bouncy pond frog in an orange bow tie. Putt through 15 hand-made holes at five friendly Halloween places, from the Pumpkin Patch to the Star Castle, while the Night Crew cheers from the side. Pull back to aim, let go to putt, bank the ball off the fences and roll it gently into the cup. Each level adds one new thing on the course.
How to play
- To play Halloween mini golf online, drag back from anywhere on the course and let go to putt. The ball goes the opposite way to your drag, and the further you pull, the harder you hit.
- With a keyboard, press ← and → to aim (↑ and ↓ turn the aim slowly), then hold Space: the power swings up and down, and letting go putts. Esc cancels.
- The dotted line shows where you are aiming. On Level 1 it also shows the first bounce off a fence; it gets shorter on every level.
- Roll the ball in gently: a ball that is moving too fast skips over the cup. Hops says a tip in a speech bubble when something new turns up.
- Each hole has a par. You have par + 2 strokes: if the ball isn't in by then, Hops picks it up and you lose one of your three hearts.
- Points per hole: hole in one 500, eagle 400, birdie 300, par 200, bogey 120, double bogey 60, plus a bonus for each level cleared. Three stars per level: clear it, clear it with no hearts lost, and finish the level at par or better.
The five levels
- Pumpkin Patch: straight putts and bank shots off wooden fences, hay bales and a giant pumpkin
- Candy Lane: sliding chocolate doors and a lollipop windmill: time your putt
- Owl Woods: lily-pad ponds by moonlight: a splash sends the ball back to where you hit it, +1 stroke
- Moon Hill: moonbeam paths and grassy slopes push the ball
- Star Castle: magic star pads, in the blue and out the gold, plus everything before
Clear the Star Castle and the course loops: lap 2 plays every hole upside down, with a shorter aim line, a cup that needs a gentler putt and double points. You have three hearts for the whole run, and the game is
the same for everyone each day, so you can compare scores. Press M to turn the sound off or on.
Tips
- Aim for the fence, not the flag: on bank shots the ball bounces off at the same angle it came in.
- A softer putt that stops near the cup beats a hard one that skips over it.
- Watch the chocolate doors and the lollipop windmill for a moment before you putt: they always move the same way.
- On moonbeam paths, aim a little upstream: the ball drifts the way the arrows point.
Questions
Is Halloween Mini Golf free?
Yes. Halloween Mini Golf is free online in your browser, with no download and no sign-up.
Can I play it on my phone?
Yes. Drag back on the screen and let go to putt. On an upright phone the course turns to fill the tall screen. It works on phones, tablets and computers.
Why did my ball roll over the hole?
It was moving too fast. The cup only catches a ball that is rolling gently, so a hard putt skips over the edge. Hit it softer as you get close.
Is it scary?
No. It is friendly Halloween fun: smiling pumpkins, candy-cane rails, lily ponds under the moon, waving bats and a frog who cheers you on.
