Halloween Typing Game: how to play
Halloween Typing is a free Halloween typing game online, hosted by Pip, a round little pumpkin with a curly stem. Pip rolls through a friendly Halloween night while smiling ghosts and waving bats float in, each carrying a word: pumpkin, candy, moon, owl, costume and many more. Type the word to poof it into sparkles before it bumps into Pip. Short words come first and longer ones later, across five places from the Pumpkin Patch to the Star Castle.
How to play
- In this type ghost game, type the word on a ghost or bat with your keyboard, or tap the on-screen keys on a phone or tablet. The first letter picks the word: no two words on screen start with the same letter.
- Finish the word and its ghost goes poof in a puff of sparkles. A wrong letter doesn't cost a heart, but it breaks your combo.
- If a ghost or bat reaches Pip, you lose one of your three hearts. It still counts toward the level, so the run goes on.
- Type the level's set of words to move on: 10 in the Pumpkin Patch, up to 14 in the Star Castle.
- Each word scores 10 points a letter × the level number × your combo (up to ×10). The end card shows your words per minute.
- Three stars per level: clear it, clear it without losing a heart, and clear it under the target time.
- Every letter types, so press Esc (or the SOUND button) to turn the sound off or on. Enter starts a run.
The five levels
- Pumpkin Patch: short words of 3 to 5 letters
- Candy Lane: longer words, 5 to 7 letters
- Owl Woods: more ghosts at once: start any word and finish it
- Moon Hill: bats fly in twice as fast
- Star Castle: stardust hides some letters as ? until the word is halfway across
Clear the Star Castle and the five levels loop again with every ghost and bat a quarter faster. You have three hearts for the whole run, and the game is
the same for everyone each day, so you can compare scores. Press Esc to turn the sound off or on.
Tips
- Once you start a word you have to finish it, so pick the closest ghost first.
- Type the bats early: they cross the path twice as fast.
- Accuracy beats speed. Every slip resets your combo.
- Keep your eyes on the words, not your fingers, and say each word in your head as you type.
