Halloween Spot the Difference: how to play
Halloween Spot the Difference is a free online spot the difference game: compare two cosy Halloween pictures and tap every change before the clock runs out. Flit, a tiny bat who always hangs upside down, watches from a twig and gives hints. Every day brings five new pairs of pictures, the same for everyone, and each level hides more differences than the last.
How to play
- Look at the two pictures: side by side, or one above the other on an upright phone. The second picture has a few differences: something missing, something extra, a new colour, a flip, a new size or a small move.
- Tap or click a difference in either picture. It gets a gold ring in both pictures, and one more gold star lights up.
- With a keyboard, move the cursor with the arrow keys or WASD and press Space or Enter to tap there.
- A wrong tap costs 3 seconds, so look before you tap.
- Stuck? Press H or the HINT button and Flit flies over to one of the differences. A hint costs 50 points, and the next one is ready after a short wait.
- Each difference is worth 100 points. Find them all to clear the level: 100 points times the level number, plus 10 for every second left. If the clock runs out you lose one of your three hearts and get some time back; lose all three and the run ends.
- Three stars per level: find them all, keep all your hearts, and beat the target time.
The five levels
- Pumpkin Patch: five differences: things missing, things added and things that changed size
- Candy Lane: six differences, and now some things flip round
- Owl Woods: seven differences, with things that only change colour
- Moon Hill: eight differences, with things that moved a little
- Star Castle: nine differences of every kind
Clear Star Castle and the pictures loop: lap 2 brings new pictures with the same kinds of differences, less time on the clock, smaller things to spot and double points. You have three hearts for the whole run, and the game is
the same for everyone each day, so you can compare scores. Press M to turn the sound off or on.
Tips
- Check one strip at a time: the sky, then the middle, then the ground.
- Bats, signs and shooting stars are good places to look for flips: see which way they face.
- Colour changes are easy to miss. Look for one thing that is a different colour from its twin.
- Running out of time? A hint costs less than a lost heart.
