Gang Racer: how to play

A top-down kart racing game. Kip takes the wheel against the rest of the crew on five hand-made tracks, one per level, from a wide neon loop to a twisty sewer and a Glitch Zone track with shortcuts that flicker open and shut. Win the race, or finish high enough, to clear the level.

How to play

Kip's kart speeds up by itself. Steer with ◀ ▶ (or A and D) and brake or reverse with ▼ (or S).
On a phone, hold the ◀ ▶ and BRAKE buttons, or hold the left or right half of the screen to steer.
Drive over boost pads for a burst of speed. Green slime spins you out, so steer round it.
Finish in the place the level asks for to clear it. If your rivals get there first, you lose one of your three hearts and the same race starts again, with the rivals 4% slower each try (up to three tries).
Each place scores points, and so do passes, boost pads and a fast finish.

The five levels

Neon City: 3 laps against Mogi: beat Mogi to the line
Rooftops: boost pads on the straights; finish top 2 of 3
Sewer: slime pools spin you out; top 2 of 3
Robot Factory: four faster rivals; finish top 3 of 5
Glitch Zone: 2 laps; shortcuts open for 4 seconds in every 7; top 2 of 4

Clear the Glitch Zone and the levels loop again with every rival 5% faster each lap (never quite as fast as you). You have three hearts for the whole run, and the game is the same for everyone each day, so you can compare scores. Press M to turn the sound off or on.

Tips

Brake a little before a tight bend, not in the middle of it.
Take the inside line round corners and save the boost pads for straights.
In the Glitch Zone, watch for a shortcut to glow, then dive in before it closes.
