Glitch Defence: how to play
A tower defense game where glitch bugs march along a path towards the core, and the gang builds the towers that stop them. Spend batteries on Mogi's zapper, Kip's bubble blaster and Bruno's stomp-field, and survive every wave. Each level is a new board with a fresh budget and one new kind of bug.
How to play
- Tap a free tile beside the path and pick a tower. Tap a tower to upgrade it (twice) or sell it for 70% of what you spent on it.
- Mogi's zapper (50) fires a steady laser at one bug, and it's the only tower that gets through armour. Kip's bubbles (70) splash a whole crowd. Bruno's stomp-field (60) slows every bug inside it by 45%, more when upgraded.
- Each level starts with a new budget: 120 batteries in Neon City, 70 more each level. Destroyed bugs and cleared waves pay more.
- Between waves there's a short break. Press NEXT WAVE (or Space) to start early for 2 batteries per second saved.
- A bug that reaches the core costs one of your three hearts; the boss costs two. Survive every wave to clear the level.
- Keyboard: arrow keys move a cursor, 1 2 3 build, U upgrades, S sells, Enter opens the menu.
The five levels
- Neon City: plain glitch bugs on one long street
- Rooftops: fast bugs: slow them down
- Sewer: armoured bugs: only the zapper hurts them
- Robot Factory: flyers skip the path on a straight lane
- Glitch Zone: bugs that split in two, and a boss in the last wave
Clear the Glitch Zone and the levels loop again with bugs 1.7 times as tough each lap, a little faster and more per wave, and a budget half as big again. You have three hearts for the whole run, and the game is
the same for everyone each day, so you can compare scores. Press M to turn the sound off or on.
Tips
- Build where the path bends: a tower in the corner reaches it twice.
- Put a stomp-field next to the bubbles, so the crowd stays in the splash longer.
- Keep a zapper or two for the Sewer: bubbles bounce off armour.
Questions
Is Glitch Defence a tower defense game?
Yes: bugs follow a path, and you build and upgrade towers beside it to stop them.
What happens to my towers in the next level?
Each level is a new board, so you start again with a fresh budget. Batteries left over at the end of a level turn into points.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. On an upright phone the board turns on its side, so the tiles are bigger to tap.
Is it free?
Yes. Glitch Defence is free in your browser on phones, tablets and computers, with no download.
